Sony has finally officially announced its new console after months of leaks and rumors The PS5 Pro is a mid-generation upgrade to the current hardware. That comprises of confirmed price, date of release, specific features, absence of a disc drive, and other specifics.

It’s not unheard of as Sony brought a new console to the market in the last generation called the PS4 Pro which was designed with the purpose of popularizing 4K gaming. PS5 Pro extends that concept, this console will be designed to deliver a near-uniform 4K/60fps (or better) performance. For this, PS5 Pro comes packed with some hardware and software enhancements over regular PS5 as listed below. Here is everything that you need to know or has been rumored so far regarding the PS5 Pro.

Fortunately, you won’t have much longer to wait for the PlayStation 5 Pro as it will be released on the 7th of November 2024. Preorder information will be out on September 26, 2024.

PS5 Pro Price:

This might be again at least a couple of years away from happening, and while it must still be a couple of years to go for the PS5 generation to conclude, Sony’s senior vice president Naomi Matsuoka has said that what she should strive to strike now is the ‘sweet spot’ of ‘profitability and sales’ as the so-called ‘hardware sell-through’ of the PS5 might already be on the decline. “In the future, PS5 will be in the final stage of its life cycle, so it is necessary to place more attention to achieving both sales and profitability,” Matsuoka shared in an interview in February. In the more recent past, Sony has admitted that it cannot hope to see upward sales movement of the PS5.
As expected, the PS5 Pro is going to cost more than the PlayStation 5 at large… It will come at the price of $700 in the US; other international markets will see prices of £700, €800, and ¥119,980.

No disc drive:

The PS5 Pro has no disc drive but can accommodate the PS5 disc-drive accessory. Of course, the current owners of PS5 will have to add the official PS5 disc drive for $80 to be able to play their piles of physical games in PS5 Pro. The drive will also be necessary for playing physical movies. Physical movies are movies that are burnt into the disks as opposed to digital movies which have been downloaded into the disks.

Of course, Sony did mention some of the overall major enhancements to the PS5 Pro but it never disclosed what is in the new console.
