The First Steam Account is now 21 Years Old
People celebrated the 21st anniversary of a Steam account. The anniversary has Steam users reflecting on the years that have elapsed and the change that has come upon the service and client.

Almost every PC gamer nowadays must have played a game through Valve’s gaming service, making Steam, reach new heights in concurrent players despite being the gamers’ choice or not. The game distribution platform now lists a staggering amount of games from small indie darlings up to large triple-A titles, handy features, and download servers worldwide. But honestly, it has not been a completely rosy ride for Steam since day one and the oldest steam accounts will tell you the same.

September 10 is the date as it marks the day when the first Steam accounts were created. The first of them which goes by the name AbacusAvenger has now completed 21 years of age. Users on the subreddit came together to commemorate the event and share Steam's history. Some spoke about how bloated Steam was in the beginning, and the general confusion was when some people found out that there was this small orange software they had to download to update and launch Counter-Strike. Today, Steam offers users a clean and problem-free experience when it comes to purchasing games and installing them, with some minor exceptions Though the platform has evolved into what can be considered one of the most convenient ways to access games and related services for the majority of Steam users, it was far from as polished when it was first launched.

Steam Users Mourn a Change that Happened in 21 Years.
However, there is one new feature that has been included in Steam which has not been well received by the users. The other promotion that was initiated by Steam to celebrate the anniversary of the service’s existence was the release of a special 20-year badge that used the original Steam colour – green. This badge is meant for accounts that were there during the first year of the service, paying respect to it’s constant customers or patrons and to the looks of the service before it evolved into what it is today. However 21-year badge is not specific for Breast cancer awareness, it is a general badge with a gold and pink color. There has been complaints that the familiar badge is no more and one can’t brag with once the 21-year badge surfaces. There were several customers, who would have appreciated if the company did not stop Steam Green, but let it run in the coming years.

It was some time before Steam could gather pace and become the force of game distribution that it is currently. Since the early days of its existence, the parent company has moved forward to design controllers alongside gaming systems such as Steam Machine and Steam Deck as well as Valve Index which is the Virtual Reality Headset. As for some of the spectators who would like game development to stem from Valve itself in the present days, the company is still pretty much alive and kicking.
